Hi my friends! I hope you all are doing well! Have you ever heard that Sri Lanka is called the Island of blue sapphire? If not I will tell you why? This island has lot of varieties of gems or precious stones and I had a chance to visit this gem show this year. It took place in the City of Gems in Sri Lanka which is called Rathnapura. This is an annual event where gem buyers and sellers can meet each other. Not only blue sapphire but Sri Lanka has many other gem varieties and a number of semi-precious stones as well. Do you know that the wedding rings of Princess Diana and Kate in the UK were made out of Sri Lankan blue sapphires? At this specacular Gem Show, the entrance was beautifully decorated with this gem studded oil lamp and the inside was also quite organized as you see in these images. You can see how these gems are displayed for selling and how do people cut and polish those stones in these videos. So, we really enjoyed our visit to this world of gems and I hope you all will be amazed by these unique gem beauties that could be only found here in Sri Lanka! With Love Amila & Prasadi
