DAMPP-CHASERS & BLÜTHNER PIANOS: DAMPP-CHASERS: This piano came with a Dampp-Chaser Piano Life Saver installed. These need regularly attending to, adding water and cleaning or changing the pads periodically. From our experience they are rarely maintained properly after a few years so we advise monitoring the humidity and temperature and controlling it in other ways. BLUTHNER PIANOS: Bluthner pianos made before the factory was destroyed in 1943 are very different from those made after that date. After WW1 Bluthner was in East Germany and it wasn't easy to maintain quality. Pianos made during that period varied a lot until Germany was reunited in 1990. BLUTHNER PATENT ACTIONS: We restore and sell two main types of pre-war Bluthner grands: Those made from about 1885 to 1925, which have their own distinctive "Patent" action and are no shorter than 5ft 9in, and those made from 1925 to 1939 which have a roller/lever action like nearly all other manufacturers.
