Space Age Hair Fashions (1962)

Wokingham, Berkshire Pathe visits the hairdressers in Wokingham, an establishment owned by Alec Pountney. Daphne Cave, stands outside the hairdressers and finally goes in. The staff are wearing glittery space age costumes. There are various shots of women with their hair dyed pink, put in curlers and having their hair rinsed in champagne. One reads 'the Great Book of Amazing Stories' on outer space adventures. Two women have their hair finished off with a device that looks like its got a sparkler inside - it looks funny but dangerous, although they must be wearing wigs, one pink, one yellow. Another woman has her hair finished with a head-dress that looks like molecules and wires. Leonard Pountney puts a record on the radiogram. The girl with the space head-dress leaves and meets her boyfriend who is dressed as a spaceman in a silver suit and helmet. Note : This is lovely jokey item about hair fashions for the year 2000. see also CP 405 Cuts . Same Leonard Pountney is filmed in a few other fantastic Colour Pictorial films. Bizarre as much as entertaining they are all highly recommended - CP 89, CP 279, CP 473 & CP 728. He also briefly appears in CP 250. FILM ID:195.08 A VIDEO FROM BRITISH PATHÉ.
