Electric Wheelchair Motor Test & Brake Removal - Testing a 24v DC Invacare electric wheelchair motor, looking at the wiring, the safety brake and eventual removal of the brake. Most wheelchair motors have a safety brake that locks the motor in case of power loss. Whilst essential in wheelchair use, when the motor is used for other applications the wiring can be confusing. I bought an Invacare 24 volt motor from eBay but found it had 4 wires rather than the two I initially expected. That's because the brake is electric and needs disabling or powering for safe use of the motor. Hopefully this video will give you all the information you need to achieve either.
