Anyone familiar with astrophotography can explain how monochrome cameras are useful for imaging deep sky objects (DSOs). Their increased sensitivity and ability to capture all types of visible, infrared, and ultraviolet light can really bring out interesting details in targets, especially in the hydrogen-alpha spectrum. Since these monochrome cameras for astrophotography can be quite expensive, I decided to attempt converting my own DSLR into a monochrome camera. This process is not for the faint-of-heart. It involves opening up your camera, disassembly of components, and very-possibly ruining of multiple sensors before achieving any type of success. I figured I could share my experience in hope it can explain how I did this to others that want to give it a shot. Note: IF YOU TRY THIS, I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR YOU DAMAGING OR BRICKING YOUR CAMERA! DOING THIS IS SOLELY AT YOUR OWN RISK!!! I am not paid to promote any products in this video. There are no sponsors. Anything I mention that I used was purchased for my own personal use. My photography digital prints: https://ericschubertphotography.pixie...
