38, Single & Rejected by Matchmaker. What we can learn

Hi girlies, welcome back to Raising Our Standards 💕 Today we are going to react to a viral video where a 38 year old woman talks about being rejected by a matchmaker, and what we can learn from it. At first she talks about what she is looking for in a man, how she prefers someone who is at or above her income level, someone who is a leader, which all seems fair. However, she then says that she can’t be with a “beta” man or doormats because she will chew them up and spit them out. This automatically is a red flag for me, anyone who say things like that to appear more “superior” or “desirable” often struggle with low self esteem. This is often a coping mechanism to prop themselves up by dragging others down, in this case, it’s imaginary men that she will not treat well because they are “”too nice”. She then goes on to say that the matchmaker rejected her, and she’s automatically interpreted it “she’s not worthy of love”. Again, that’s a big sign of low self esteem. So what we can learn from this viral video: 1. you are not perfect as you are and that’s okay. Not everything is an attack on you. You are allowed to make changes to yourself and become a better person, it doesn’t mean you are a bad person to start with. 2. If you are very defensive and think everything is an insult/link everything as an attack on your self worth. You are probably struggling with self esteem. Instead of putting on a confident front, why don’t you sit with yourself and ask yourself why you feel so triggered. 3. If you are a high earner, the reason you are still single is probably not because men are “intimidated by you”. It’s mostly likely because you make work and your achievements your entire personality when you go on dates.
