In this video I will show you step by step in detail how to make the rose but along the way I will show you close ups of the work, more detail about how long it takes to make the roses and lots of tips for beginners about what to do and not to do. This is a method that I consider to be evolving all the time as I make more roses. I call these Judith's roses. Judith has been a feltmaker and textile artist as long as I can remember. In my first video , I followed Judith's notes. She and her husband Don were travelling across Australia, through the desert and Judith was wanting to do some felt making as they drove along. Obviously, anything involving a lot of sloppiness and water was out of the question so Judith came up with the idea of using a simple plastic shopping bag and a metal tube which could fit into a jar that had a screw top lid. One day... I thought... but I am not on the road and can use any method I want.!! So I have been trialling all sorts of ideas, some successful , some not. For my next investigation I want to see if the whole parcel can be felted in an ordinary washing machine along with the other washing. It will be interesting as I wash in cold water. Please let me know how you go and do ask for further information if you need it. I would love to hear from you. Music Thankyou!!
