We climbed Nevado Mateo (Pico Mateo) in Huascarán National Park. Nevado Mateo's peak sits at 16,896 feet (5,510 m). This climb is 3 miles roundtrip (4.8 km) with a 1,575 feet (480 m) elevation gain, and is located among the stunning mountain peaks of Cordillera Blanca, the world's highest tropical mountain range in the world. The best time of year to climb #NevadoMateo is between April to November. You must hire a professional mountain guide to #climb this peak in Peru. You will see amazing views of Mount Huascarán, the tallest peak in Peru that stands at over 22,000 feet. We paid around $60 USD per person in September 2022 for the climbing adventure.
