Firewire S Boss Surfboard Review by Kamaki

Shop S Boss here https://www.hawaiiansouthshore.com/co... Kamaki normally rides around 25-25.5L for a fishy board, but went with the 5'5" at 26L for a bit more volume. Kamaki finds the wider outline and extra volume works great for North Shore waves when you need to handle steeper, more sloping conditions while still being able to rip in the pocket. He also tried the 5'7" which has significantly more volume around 28-29L. The added volume made it shine in mushy, smaller waves but it could still turn well when hitting the lip. For bigger North Shore days, Kamaki prefers the extra float and curve of the 5'7". In terms of fins, he's been running the medium Kelly Slater 4-fin setup as a quad, and switching to a 2+1 thruster with a KS twin fin on smaller days when the extra center fin holds turns better. Unlike the Firewire Revo, the spine on the S Boss isn't as pronounced, preventing it from getting too stiff when running bigger center fins. Overall, he loves how the S Boss handles North Shore conditions, providing versatility to handle both steep, hollow days as well as mushier, sloppier surf depending on the size and fin configuration. The wider shapes with extra volume give him the curve and drive he needs out of a performance fish design.
