NORA AUNOR, DULCE, JOEY ALBERT, VINA MORALES, DONNA CRUZ - 14th URIAN AWARDS Musical Numbers

Danny Tan's Throwback #209 14th GAWAD URIAN AWARDS This is a montage of all the musical numbers I arranged for the 14th GAWAD URIAN AWARDS in 1990 performed by Ms. Nora Aunor, Dulce, Joey Albert, Vina Morales, Donna Cruz, Nanette Inventor, Rachel Alejandro, Ariel Rivera, Ogie Alcasid, Richard Reynoso, Dessa, Tenten Muñoz, Cheenee De Leon, Janet Arnaiz, Richard Merck, Nolyn Cabahug, Cynthia Patag, Beverly Salviejo, Jai Sabas Aracama, The TUX, Opera Band, Men & Music. 1. Dulce, Richard Merk, Nolyn Cabahug, Opera Band, Men & Music take on Nonoy Zuñiga's MAGANDANG GABI, Sampaguita's SAYAWAN and VST's TAYO'Y MAGSAYAWAN in pop, swing and classical styles for the opening of the 14th Urian Awards at the Cultural Center of the Philippines in 1991. 2. "Young singers of tomorrow" way back in 1991 at the 14th Urian Awards at the Cultural Center of the Philippines. Enjoy the voices of Vina Morales, Donna Cruz, Tenten Muñoz, Dessa Salazar in a medley of Easy To Love You-Danny Tan/Joey Reyes, No Way To Treat A Heart-Louie Ocampo/Martin Nievera, Now That You’re Gone-Sharon Cuneta, Now That You’re Gone-Ryan Cayabyab. I always made sure that all soloists in my production numbers sing harmony together. I am not a fan of established soloists singing in unison most of the time in a musical number. If I am sure they can sing harmony, I challenge them to do so and write down their vocal parts. 3. This production number was part of a long list of the Operetta tradition I pioneered with Direk Al Quinn and Mr. Butch Francisco, starting with the tandem of Cynthia Patag and Nolyn Cabahug (Mr. Dreamboy / Mr. Kupido Medley) exclusively for every Urian Awards Night. I created a melody for "Humanap Ka ng Pangit", the hit rap song of Andrew E. within the concept of Babae Ay Ganyan Talaga for the 14th URIAN Awards in 1991. Please enjoy the artistry of BEVERLY SALVIEJO, JAI SABAS ARACAMA, CYNTHIA PATAG and the TUX! 4. Joey Albert, Nanette Inventor, Rachel Alejandro, Janet Arnaiz, Cheenee de Leon, Richard Reynoso, Ogie Alcasid and Ariel Rivera in a medley of 80's Pinoy movie theme songs at the 14th URIAN Awards at the Cultural Center of the Philippines in 1991. 5. The Superstar, Nora Aunor, accompanied by Danny Tan, Marc Lopez, Jeannette Casuga Trevias (3 Pianos), Babsie Molina, Katherine Molina and Sylvia Macaraeg (Back Up Vocals) in an unforgettable performance of a George Canseco, Willy Cruz, Danny Tan Medley! She is a vulnerable singer and performer, unafraid to expose her emotions at the 14th Urian Awards in 1991. She really wears her heart on her sleeve! 14th URIAN AWARDS - Cultural Center of the Philippines, 1991 Musical Director & Arranger: Danny Tan Concept: Danny Tan, Al Quinn & Butch Francisco Producer: Tessie Celestino-Howard (Airtime Marketing) Executive in Charge of Production: Butch Francisco Stage & TV Director: Al Quinn The URIAN Awards musical numbers are some of my best works as a musical director, arranger and composer. I was given a free rein on my creativity. The musical production core team of Director Al Quinn, Producer Tessie Celestino, Musical Director Danny Tan and URIAN Awards Chairman Butch Francisco, the driving force of the production, made this all possible. These are truly musical gems worth sharing to the Filipinos again and again. This is URIAN Awards contribution to the legacy of OPM.
