Ruby Backdam is becoming very populated with squatters and we decided to explore it and distribute some items to the residents. We were surprised at the development that was taking place; good road, the trenches being cleared, and bridges being built. The agricultural area has electricity and recently benefitted from potable water. Massive development is taking place because apparently the road connecting the highway from the Demerara Harbour Bridge would pass through there. We also visited Jonesy, who is taking care of a nine-year-old girl after her mother abandoned her as a baby. He is living in a dilapidated house and some sections were recently repaired after we highlighted it. But now he suffers constant flooding and wants to move out of the area. He has a house lot and is asking for some help to build a house. He also wants the girl to get an opportunity to go oversea so she can have a better life.
