Evans EMAD 2 Clear Bass Batter Head: Head Installation, Care and Maintenance For me, I always gravitate back to the Evans EMAD series of bass drum heads. It’s the best head out there to maximize low end and the punch needed for your bass drum. If you like to bury your beater into the head or you need a loud thump for all the heavy drumming you do, then EMAD 2, 2 ply head will do it. I’ve tried quite a few bass drum heads in the EMAD lineup: the original EMAD single ply, the EMAD 2, and the EMAD Heavyweight. But for me I think the best overall is the EMAD 2 in terms of punchiness, durability, and maximum low end! Plus if you add some AF patches to where the beater strikes the head, you get added armor for your bass drum and even more attack!!!
