Autumn Lecture series, 2021. Lecture Dated 7th October 2021 David Robson will talk about the legacy of the Sri Lankan architect Geoffrey Bawa (1919-2003). Bawa studied at the Architectural Association, and was among the most influential Asian architects of his generation. His work married vernacular styles, responses to climate and site with a modern architectural vocabulary known as “tropical modernism”. We hope to include a unique edited lecture that Bawa gave in the mid 1980s in Delhi where he describes six of his buildings and which was recorded by the architect Christoph Bon. David is an architect and author of 'The complete works of Geoffrey Bawa' published by Thames and Hudson, 2002. His article 'Remembering Geoffrey Bawa' was in the C20 Magazine 2019/2. He is also author of 'Anjalendran: Architect of Sri Lanka' (Tuttle Publishing, 2009).
