The Great Britain XVI- day 8. LMS Black 5s 44871 and 45407 ‘the Lancashire Fusilier’ 1Z45 Liverpool Lime Street to Swansea via the Central Wales line. Departing Liverpool Lime Street at 09:00, 45407 ‘the Lancashire Fusilier’ can be seen emerging from Lime Street tunnels working hard on the climb up to Edge Hill. 45407 would work the train as far as Chester before 44871 would attach to the front for a double head run over the Central Wales line to Swansea. The second shot sees the pair waiting at Chester where we managed to overtake. The final shots see 44871 & 45407 storming up towards Church Stretton on the Welsh Marches line.
