Hello everyone! I’m so appreciative of the support you’ve all given me on my Jungleland YouTube video! I wanted to share this performance from my dad’s collection of my early recordings. “New York City Serenade” is a deep cut from Springsteen’s 1973 album, “The Wild, the Innocent & the E Street Shuffle”. I did this rehearsal performance back in 2009 when I was 14 years old. I only have this home audio recording (listen closely for the vacuum cleaner running at the other end of my house!). The idea was that a friend would use this track to play an accompanying guitar track. That performance never happened so all I have is this practice recording. The accompanying photo was taken in NYC in 2010, one year after this recording. Our great family friend and photographer, Amelia Panico, took me out on an urban photo safari during the "Play Me I'm Yours" event. The fish-eye perspective helps convey the bewildering sense of being in midtown Manhattan. This day was hot and humid and the city had that special "essence" unique to New York. It was smelly, a bit dirty and noisy, but beautiful in its own way. I had no idea what this song meant when I first played it, but I now understand the gritty edge that Bruce was trying to convey. I think this is possibly Bruce's most beautiful and epic piano piece ever. Hope you all enjoy this. #brucespringsteen #covers
