Where is the best beach destination in Kerala? Some people swear by Kovalam. But for me there's a clear winner in Varkala. Varkala is a great place to stay on a budget. I'm spending no more than $25 per day on Accommodation, Food and Entertainment. Varkala cliff is an amazing place to stay for a week or two! I'm feeling right at home here. Staying at a basic home stay a two minute walk from the north cliff. Perfect. Everything on my doorstep. Apart from ATMs, mobile stores and pharmacies. You need to go to Varkala town for anything important. I now have a 5 year India e-visa allowing me to stay for 180 days per calendar year. How wonderful is that? So in Varkala you have a choice of staying at accommodation in North Cliff or South Cliff. The previous time I stayed I’d spent one night at North Cliff, didn’t really like the vibe and moved to the quieter part of Varkala at South Cliff. I soon realized that South Cliff was a pale shadow of what it used to be five years earlier and having spent a night there I decided to go look at North Cliff instead. Wandering around looking for my perfect dream home a lady in her night dress asked if I was looking for accommodation and led me to this place. Cold water shower. My own balcony.
