In this video I share with you all the things I can think of that can help your african pygmy hedgehog become more comfortable with you and it's environment. I don't usually like to bombard my viewers with so much information but this is one of those cases where I think that the more information you have the better off you will be. I think there's a lot more to taming a hedgehog than just interacting with them daily. Making sure that they are happy with their environment is also extremely important to have a happy hedgehog. An unhappy hedgehog will not hesitate to show you it's displeasure so you want to make sure that you do everything that you possibly can to create a nice environment in your home for them. Most african pygmy hedgehogs are naturally very skittish and will be extremely defensive so if you think your hedgehog is mean you are not alone! A lot of new hedgehog owners think that their hedgehog hates them but that is not the case. That's just how they naturally are and you need to work with them to get them used to you. I hope that these tips help you with your hedgehog as I know from experience that it can be extremely frustrating to have a hedgehog that doesn't trust you. Don't give up on them though! It may take a lot of time to get them comfortable with human interaction but with enough time and persistence it should pay off in the end and you'll be able to enjoy the benefits of having a pet hedgehog.
