Black Crowned Night-Heron Growing Up

Some video footage of a Black Crowned Night-Heron showing the growth over a two month period. All footage is of the same subject, to my knowledge, living in the same nest at a rookery in Port Royal, SC. I observed eggs in the nest in early or mid April 2024, then a chick moving in late April. By early May the chick was clearly visible in the nest, Early June it had fledged and was hunting clumsily on it's own. By early July it appears to be fully grown although it will take up to three more years to develop it's adult plumage, if it survives to adulthood. #blackcrownednightheron #birds #wildlifefilmmaker #wildlife #nature #herons #shotonlumix
