This is a slow way to get from A to B, but it's a fascinating trip through villages, fields, forests, tunnels, and mountains. Bulgaria offers plenty of bargains for travelers and this is another one: less than US $6 for a trip of 6 hours. The first 5 hours are on this narrow train that is going through the countryside and the mountains, then the last hour is on a fast train between Septemvri and Plovdiv.
