Polyphase is probably my current favorite generative midi sequencer. It is extremely well thought out, has some killer features and an excellent interface, and is fun to get lost in for hours. Most of all, it is probably the most musical generative midi sequencer for iOS. Not only that, it has a very nice and easy to use built-in synth. This would actually make a great first purchase app for someone buying a new ipad who wants to learn something about synthesis and generative sequencing, but also allows you to go super deep if you want.
