Deep Stretches For Dancers

🥰 Free Momentum Calendar - 28 days journey 🥰 👇 Take care of your body and mind every day https://www.lazydancerstudio.com/mome... Today I'm inviting you to join me on the floor to work on our strength and stretching. We're going to dedicate this time to work our way into some nice deep stretches. I know there's going to be moments when you feel your body say, "Ugh, this hurts." But I want you to have this conversation with yourself- tell yourself, "It's alright. I'm ok, this is normal. Relax, breathe. I'm going to get there." We want to transform the well-known pain we get while stretching into a "pleasant discomfort," or as some call it, a "good pain." Yes, it's possible. And it does happen with time. The tingling we feel in the palms and soles of our feet is the result of nerves being stimulated from the stretch as a whole. (Really, you shouldn't feel that sensation any other time.) But, if you're in the middle of a deep hamstring stretch, you're contracting and releasing many areas of the body simultaneously. The body isn't used to it. You might even be pushing too far. Your mind translates those nerve signals, and you feel discomfort, quickly followed by, "Ew, no! Do not want!" And it's ok to back off, take another deep breath, then slowly begin again. No rule book says, "You have to be able to touch the bottom of your foot to the top of your head to have a good stretch." No. We're nurturing our body, caring for it, listening to it. Tell yourself, "I'm alright. I can do this. I can be gentle with myself. And I can do more than I think." So let's release our muscles, and relieve any tension we may be holding on to. Let's breathe deeply into these stretches. And let’s get some good oxygen flowing to elongate and feel free again. Find a comfortable place in your home, on a mat, blanket, or soft rug and work on that little "conversation" with yourself. Tell your mind, "Everything is going to be ok." Let's Do It!
