In March 1989, when Marine Captain Shirley Gibbs Russell failed to report for duty, friends and colleagues believed this was out of character and suspected there was foul play at hand. The FBI was called in and they noticed her husband, Robert Russell, a former Marine, acting suspiciously. There was no body, no witness and no weapon, only a 26-step plan for murder. The FBI would have to rely on circumstantial evidence if they wanted to put him behind bars. The FBI Files is an American television docudrama series. Each episode describes actual FBI cases which include murder, narcotics, bank robberies, and kidnapping as well as other crimes. These are portrayed through dramatic reenactments and interviews with agents and forensic scientists who worked on the investigations.
