Rongoprobesh 2015 - Episode 1

Presented by dancers from Kolpotoru, Dhaka, Bangladesh: Amit Chowdhury, Zuairiyah Mouli, Shammy Akter, Shankari Mridha, Anishta Khan, Shuddha Das, Tahsin Saba Turshi, Parisa Omar and Aviya Khan. Ganesh bandana: Lord Ganesh is a symbol of positive energy. The lord encompasses all things pure, great and good. This invocatory dance is in praise of his magnificence which is like the single ray of positivity which holds the power to light up a shadowed room. Tisrah Gati Alaripu: Composed by C.V. Chandrashekhar Alaripu is the meeting of rhythm and tempo. Alarippu meaning flowering bud is traditionally the first dance piece in a Bharatanatyam repertoire. It is an invocatory piece, symbolising the offering of respects to both God and the audience. It synchronizes the heart beats of the dancer, musicians and spectators. Jatishwaram: Jatiswaram brings out three aspects of dance: the unity of music, rhythm and movements. Ragam and talam are the major aspects of Jatiswaram. The message of Jathiswaram is beauty. It is a pure Nritta item. Anga shuddha (proper postures and movements) in combination with the flow of melody and rhythm evokes a sense of harmony and evokes the joy of dance in the hearts of the spectators. Talam Rupak; Ragam Saveri Shabdam: Like every devotee, the one portraying and praising Ram in this dance piece begs for attention from her mighty lord. The devotee asks Ram how he can do so much for his consort Sita and neglect the devotee completely. Even if she, the devotee, is so beautiful and is prepared to give her life to Ram, he pays her no heed and she is flustered by confusion. This Shabdam portrays dedication of the devotee, who is in awe of her beloved deity. This piece is composed by Guru Rukmini Devi Arundel. Talam Mishra chapu; Ragam Ragamalika
