Step inside California's new $120 million dollar St. Michael's Abbey and meet the men there living this monastic life. St. Michael’s Abbey in Orange County, California was founded in 1961 by seven Hungarian priests who fled communism. They are part of the Norbertine order, with a history going back 900-years. The Fathers live a common life of liturgical prayer and care for souls. The abbey in Orange County consists of over fifty priests and nearly forty seminarians studying for the priesthood. The Norbertine Order was founded by St. Norbert in 1121 A.D. and is one of the oldest Catholic orders in the world. The Norbertines serve communities around the world, and their mission is to live in common life and to care for souls through education and the preaching.
