TL: Westminster Hwy - Westbound - April 2024

Full map at https://kr-matthews.github.io/bike-ro... Regular speed video:    • Westminster Hwy - Westbound - April 2024   0:00 waiting at Boundary Rd... 0:04 Painted Lane: Boundary Rd Trail to Queen's Canal Trail 0:21 Separated Lane: Queen's Canal Trail to East-West Connector 1:16 Shoulder: East-West Connector overpass 1:43 Shoulder: Fraserwood Trail connection to McMillan Way crossing 2:28 Shared Path: McMillan Way to near No. 6 Rd 5:57 Crossing No. 6 Rd/Westminster Hwy 6:21 Shoulder: No. 6 Rd to Shell Rd Trail 8:01 Shoulder: Shell Rd Trail to Garden City Rd Flat and relatively direct. A roughly equal mix of unpleasant highway shoulder and nice, separated shared-use path. With some painted lanes at the start too. This is the only official bike route between Queensborough and Richmond, though you can also use River Rd. The East-West Connector overpass can be confusing, make sure not to ride onto the connector, that's not allowed. When the shared path ends near No. 6 Rd, you can cross No. 6 first then use the crossbike. Or you can continue straight on this side street (confusingly it's also called Westminster Hwy) and then turn back onto the ("real") Westminster Hwy after one (long) block at Sidaway Rd. Technically you're not allowed to pass people while on the shoulder, but this is a side effect of rules for cars rather than an intentional rule for cyclists. But technically you can't go faster than the car on your left when you ride on the shoulder. Feel free to report me. Continue north/south via Garden City Rd or Shell Rd Trail. Continue west via Granville Ave (left on Garden City Rd, though there's no proper/safe way to turn left for bikes).
