The mage is an interesting character. His offense is strong enough to oneshot several of the game's boss enemies, but he's still one of the harder characters to win with. He levels up much faster than the other classes, attaining level 20 with only 22,000 exp. At 17:20 I make the unorthodox move of trading away my staff of fire for a weaker iron wand. This is because the mage can only have one magic effect active at a time, so the staff's fireballs will interfere with his spellcasting. The iron wand's slightly lower attack power doesn't matter because everything I kill with it would take the same number of hits with the staff of fire.
