Also Watch the next video - Gajoldoba local trip here -    • Gajoldoba - Kolkata to Siliguri (Gajo...   The drive from Kolkata to Siliguri / North Bengal has always been challenging due to the absence of a good 4 lane highway. The NH 34 (now NH12) highway is yet to be fully converted to 4 lane. The stretch between Kolkata and Baharampur takes considerably more time than it should. Once into North Bengal the slow traffic in sections of Farakka, Kaliachak, Malda, Raigunj, Dalkhola and Islampur adds up to the overall delay. In the recent few years, there has been quite a lot of improvement with the Malda and Islampur bypasses being opened to general traffic. Even Kaliachak has been widened and is in much better shape now. However the Stretch from Kolkata till Moregram in the south of Farakka and Dalkhola in the north still takes too long to cross. This video show an alternate route that avoids these 2 sections. This video tries to give the self drive enthusiasts a quick summary of the route that once can avail for once of the fastest drives to reach Siliguri (as on date Jan 2022).
