SOLD 1971 Blue Plymouth GTX Hardtop

1971 Blue Plymouth GTX Hardtop Last year for the GTX! Beautifully and correctly restored. Final year of GTX production 1 of 62 4-speed Six Pack GTXs produced in 1971 Rotisserie restoration Matching numbers V-Code 440 Six Pack engine 4-speed transmission Factory N96 Air Grabber 4.10 Super Track Pack Dana rear end Split bench bucket seats Power steering and disc brakes B5 Blue with Blue interior Partial ownership history since 1972 Plymouth intermediates packed a new look for 1971. The sleek and modern fuselage style redefined Plymouth and brought new muscle-car fans into the showrooms. Maximum style and big-block performance made for peak GTX in 1971 even as the era of unbridled horsepower was coming to a close. The Road Runner would continue on, but 1971 was the last year of the GTX as an individual model. This GTX is one of just 62 produced in 1971 with the combination of V-Code 440 Six Pack engine and 4-speed transmission. At the heart of a body-on rotisserie restoration is the matching-numbers V-Code 440 CI engine with the storied Six Pack three carburetor setup which draws in fresh air through a factory-issue N96 Air Grabber hood intake. The 440 CI V-8 with its three Holley 2-barrel carburetors was rated for 385 horsepower at 4,700 RPM. All of 490 lb-ft of torque hit at just 3,200 RPM. The engine is backed by a 4-speed manual transmission and Super Track Pack Dana rear axle equipped with 4.10:1 gears and Sure-Grip. Power steering and power front disc brakes round out the performance package. The shimmering B5 blue paint suits the sleek shape of the GTX and blends into the blue vinyl interior. Bucket seats, wood-grain dash and door inserts, power windows and brightwork on the pedals and door sills speak to GTX refinement. The interior is centered by perhaps the most important control besides the gas pedal—floor-mounted pistol-grip shifter. A ‘70s perfect J81 gull wing-style rear spoiler is a nod to the race-bred Superbird. This low-production last-of-the-GTX has got all the right stuff. The legend stands restored and ready with three pedals, a big-block, and ownership documentation dating back to 1972. The beautiful, rare and rust-free example (1 of only 62 built!) presented here was sold new in Los Angeles, CA. It then spent most of its live in TX. and has now come full circle back to So. Cal! It was painstakingly restored to factory, showroom condition and over a period of 3-4 years in the early ’00’s and still looks fresh. It features it’s correct, matching #’s 440 6-bbl big block engine, Super Trak Pak, 4-spd. transmission with Pistol Grip shifter, Air-Grabber hood and Dana rear end with 4.10 gears. Documentation includes, owner history, copies of past titles, correspondence with previous owner’s, photos from back in the ’70’s and extensive restoration receipts!
