Litter Picking Train 31st March 2021

A special train was sent up the Broadfield section on the ELR to pick up litter and fly tipping that had occurred. The section of line is on they way to Heywood and sadly some houses that back onto the railway seem to think it's acceptable to throw all manner of stuff onto the ELR line. A team of hard working volunteers spent over 5 hours collecting rubbish that did not belong to the railway. The ELR is now working with Rochdale Council to try and resolve the issue. Also on this day both BBC Northwest and Granada TV attended to film the problems the ELR is having and featured on the evening news.
