Installing a Residential Refrigerator in an RV the easy way. In this video, we show you the step by step process of installing an off-the-shelf residential refrigerator in an RV. The old refrigerator was leaking ammonia and needed to be replaced. Once that was done we decided to replace this fridge with a residential off the shelf model that will only run on 120/110v. The cost savings is significant however we will not be able to run it while on the road or if we do not have a plugin where we are camping. For us, that is not a factor as we always stay at state grounds and normally don't travel more than a few hours. We can cool it down pack it up and take the trip when we arrive just plug it in. We just can’t afford to replace our 30 plus-year-old refrigerators ($1500) or refurbish it ($500.00 with no guarantee). Simple cheaper in all aspects is to just take out the dinosaur and replace it with a much more energy-efficient domestic model ($358.00). We decided to go with a model that would be a direct swap with very little or no modifications to the galley/kitchen area. We did tons of research (it’s our home to get the best you can find and afford) we ended up with Haier 10.11-cu ft. Top-Freezer Refrigerator from Lowe’s.
