One in every five living organisms is a beetle and Max Barclay has dedicated his life to cataloguing and understanding these incredible success stories of evolution. He has been on field trips to remote tropical rainforests and mountain ranges in many countries and has discovered a wealth of new species, 50 of which have been named in his honour by scientists around the world. As Collections Manager at the Natural History Museum's, he is responsible for the world's largest, oldest and most important beetle collection in the world. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
