And check out my online course all about light metering for film photography: https://www.nickcarverphoto.com/metering I'm back in the Alabama Hills of California for a quick camping trip and some sunrise photos. I know, I know - I already did a video in the Alabama Hills. But it's beautiful there, alright? So I went back. And I'd appreciate it if you'd get off my case about it. Besides, this time is different: Different gear, new photos, and I've even got a sense of humor on this one. On this trip I shot 3 rolls of Fujifilm Velvia 100 film in 3 different cameras. You'll see cameos from my Shen Hao TFC 617-A panoramic camera, my Mamiya RZ67, and my Fujifilm GA645Zi. 3 cameras and only 3 rolls of film. Aw. Cute. Oh, wait. 4 cameras. I nearly forgot I did some nighttime moonlit photography with my Canon EOS 6D. The weather was calm and comfortable and my campsite had some choice vistas. The Alabama Hills near Lone Pine, California are iconic for a reason. They're in every third car commercial for a reason. This place is epic in all sorts of ways. If you have the opportunity, I recommend taking a little visit. This mountain range - the Eastern Sierra Nevada, that is - contains the tallest peak in the continental United States, Mt. Whitney at 14,505 feet above sea level. From my vantage point here in the Alabama Hills, I got to see the first light of dawn paint Mt. Whitney and the seemingly taller (but not actually) peak of Mt. Williamson. My biggest challenge on this trip was to try and create photos that were new and unique. With how many times I've visited this place, I find it quite difficult at times to find fresh compositions. I hope you enjoy the video. And thanks for watching!
