DEQ: calculating the stockpile volume

This week two of our teams (UPM & Sigma) visited DigiEcoQuarry’s pilot site near Madrid, Valdilecha’s quarry from Cemex, to continue with their work regarding Work Package 4 Stockpile Volume Calculation & Work Package as well as Mechanical Failure Detection. The goal is to be able to calculate the stockpile volume using a smartphone by recording a video around the pile thanks to software developed for this matter. After recording the video, the software offers a 3D reconstruction, 3D segmented piles, and an estimation of the volume with a margin error of less than 3%. A drone was also used to record images of the piles.
