She has served a major role in all three eras of the Star Wars Saga without even appearing in any of the nine episodic films. Not only did Ahsoka’s journey shape the events of the nine-part Skywalker Saga–but we think Ahsoka will heavily influence the upcoming Rey Skywalker trilogy as well–as I’ll explain a little later in the video. Ahsoka hit the scene in the pre-empire era of the Saga. This period featured the return of the Sith, the beginning and end of the Clone Wars, the siege of Mandalore, and the rise and fall of Anakin Skywalker. [clip] Ahsoka was introduced in the Clone Wars movie–and at first, she came off as an annoying kid sidekick [clip]. But over the years, she matured into a character whose wisdom surpassed her master’s in many ways. When they first introduced a padawan to Anakin Skywalker, a lot of fans–myself included–rejected the idea because it was too bold of an addition to canon. Interestingly enough, Ahsoka’s creator, Dave Filoni, thought the same thing [George Lucas clip]. But Ahsoka’s introduction only enriched the characters from the main Star Wars films–especially her master, Anakin Skywalker. Over the years, Ahsoka, as Anakin's apprentice, showed a side of Anakin we’d never seen before. Instead of seeing him go from a whiny teenager [clip] to a brooding badass [clip], Ahsoka guided us through Anakin’s evolution. She was a brash, headstrong padawan, so Yoda assigned her to a brash, headstrong Jedi knight [cli[p]. And over the years, the two grew up together. Now, we see Anakin as a mature war hero passing wisdom on to an apprentice completely changes the way we view his character. Take this scene from Revenge of the Sith for example. [clip] Before meeting Ahsoka, this scene made Anakin come off as whiny and entitled. But after seeing all of his triumphs in the Clone Wars and his assignment as a Jedi padawan–it’s understandable why he was so angry about not being given the rank of master. Doug: If you ask me, it is outrageous and unfair. [clip] Right, and you see, if not for Ahsoka and her role in the Clone Wars, we never would have seen this more mature side of Anakin. We’d always wonder how he went from a whiny serial killer to 2nd in command of the entire galaxy. Anakin’s resentment for the Jedi was amplified when Ahsoka left the order. Ahsoka was framed for a bombing at the Jedi temple. [clip] Anakin was one of the only people in Ahsoka’s corner when she was framed for this attack. He put his full faith in Ahsoka–and did all he could to prove her innocence. Meanwhile, the Jedi Council expelled her from the order. [clip] Once Ahsoka’s name was cleared, she was welcomed back to the order, but she declined to return. Like Anakin, Ahsoka was disillusioned by the Jedi’s reckless acts, lack of faith, and commitment to government bureaucracy, rather than the force. Ahsoka saw the very flaws that would lead to the extinction of the Jedi, and the rise of the Sith. Through Ahsoka, we got a closer look at the corruption of the Republic and the Jedi Order. The same corruption that pushed Anakin to the dark side. This was a major turning point for not only Ahsoka and Anakin but for the entire of the saga. If not for the injustice served upon Ahsoka, Anakin may have never become so disillusioned with the Jedi and the republic. He definitely wouldn't have been so quick to become angry toward the Jedi council. Palpatine manipulates this resentment perfectly [they asked you to spy on me]. Ahsoka was one of the only characters who truly understood and listened to Anakin. Had she never been pushed away–she may have been able to save Anakin from his fall to the dark side. She even knew about his love for Padme, but kept his secret–even from the audience [clip]. Doug: If ifs and buts were candy and nuts we’d all have a merry Christmas. Fair enough. Let’s talk Mandalorians. Mandalorians have taken center stage in the Star Wars Galaxy in the Disney Plus era. [clip, Mando walking into bar in ep 1] But–Ahsoka has been instrumental in the history of Mandlore.
