Locksmith Review: Master M736 Hidden Shackle Puck Lock

NOTE: Most experienced lock pickers can pick even some of the most high-security locks. Most thieves are opportunistic and can not tell the difference between a Kwikset Clone and a Schlage Primus... This is my honest review of the Master M736 Hidden Shackle Puck Lock. While an experienced picker of many years can easily pick this lock with technique, statistically thieves are opportunistic and have little to no picking experience! This lock would force a common thief to give up and move on quickly. It's design also throws off a would be thief if they wanted to drill this lock. A for effort to Master Lock on this one! Not many locks would hold up to torch/grinder methods! But, in the case a thief has all of these tools, they would need the perfect scenario to break in! The work van would have to be parked in a poorly lit, poor visibility area where nobody could hear the tools! Thieves do not want to be seen or heard, so this lock lives up to it's label! For these reasons it gets our Locksmith approval!!! It's label of "Max Pick Resistance" does hold true as it has many barriers to prevent an opportunistic, novice lock picker from gaining access with this method! Time is against all thieves, so when they decide to choose their target, this lock would take a tremendous amount of time for a thief to attack. My only recommendation to Master would be to add more guarding around the keyway! If they made the guarding fully surround the puck lock itself, and leave only an opening enough for the key to fit in it would make this even more of a challenge to pick! They just need to add a guard to prevent a tension tool from easily being inserted. Just our 2 cents to Master!
