Throughout this morning, we have been joined by several guests to try and tackle issues affecting special needs schools in South Africa. Challenges in accessing schools and the long waiting lists have resulted in many families waiting long periods, sometimes years before their children are admitted at special needs schools across the country. It is not different here in Gauteng. One of the parents is Keneiloe Maqelepo, a parent of an 18-year-old learner here at the Curamus School for Autism. Her son was admitted for classes at Curamus in 2016 after attending a previous special needs school. The process of accessing the required education involved two years on a waiting list. Maqelepo joins us to tell us more about her journey. For more news, visit sabcnews.com and #SABCNews on all Social Media platforms.
