Taurus 856: Trigger Weight | Polishing | Springs | Headspace Submission Requirement: There are four parts to this assignment. Part One: Get a baseline trigger pull measurement on the revolver you received in this course. Share your results with your instructor. Part Two: In this part of the assignment, you will be working with the following components/assemblies: The frame The side plate The cylinder stop The hand The hammer The double-action sear Complete the following steps: Using the revolver you received for this course, perform a detailed strip on that firearm. Lightly coat the working surfaces of the components identified above with layout dye or a permanent marker. Reassemble the firearm. Cycle the action components numerous times to help the high spots on the components show up in the layout fluid/permanent marker. Perform a detail strip on the firearm. Identify the high spots on each component listed above and, using a stone and oil, polish the high spots. Show the polished components/areas to your instructor and articulate why you polished those areas.* Reassemble the firearm. Perform a dry function check. Assess how the trigger pull "feels" now as opposed to before you performed any work.* Using a trigger pull gauge, get a new trigger pull measurement and share the result with your instructor. Did the measurement improve?* Record your thoughts as to what you could have done differently to make the process more smooth.* IMPORTANT NOTE: Not every step in part two of this assignment needs to be demonstrated on camera. Only the steps with an * following the prompt need to be recorded on video. Reach out to your instructor with any questions that you may have. Part Three: Disassemble your firearm. Reassemble your firearm and, while doing so, replace the trigger return spring and mainspring in your revolver using the aftermarket spring kit you received as part of this course. Perform a dry function check. Obtain a new trigger pull measurement and share the results with your instructor.* IMPORTANT NOTE: Not every step in part three of this assignment needs to be demonstrated on camera.
