Trackmania | Welcome to the World of PF Tracks [TM MOVIE]

Trackmania Nations Forever (TMNF) is a racing game developed by Nadeo. Players are able to create their own maps and share them with the community. One type of map that persisted over the years since its release in 2008 is called a Press Forward (PF). As the name implies, all you do is Press Forward and enjoy the Stuntshow someone else build for you. Building times range from a few hours for smaller maps all the way up to over 1000 for the heavy hitters. This video highlights most maps that have been build in over a decade, and is a tribute to all those who made them. Welcome to the world of PF tracks. This project has been in the works for over 5 years and I'm really glad that i can finally share the nostalgia with all of you, especially those who have participated in this time-consuming "hobby" It's been a lot of fun being part of this community over the years and I hope to continue making these maps and seeing others do the same. Big love to all the cool people I've met thanks to this game. Now, to answer a few questions: Q1: Why? A1: No Idea, it's fun. And that's all that matters I guess. Q2: Why are some of the tracks rendered in Maniaplanet? A2: TMNF is an old game. It's not optimized for large maps, and thus, it is often not possible to render these maps in high quality like the rest. Newer drivers and operating systems have also made the game more unstable. So i chose to render them in Maniaplanet. A tool called "openplanet" helped to render the oversized maps like "Swarm order" or "Flatlands". You can find more info about the tool here: https://openplanet.nl/ Q3: Why didn't you render all of them in Maniaplanet? A3: While Maniaplanet makes rendering a lot easier/better in many ways (Rendertime, Quality, no Size limit etc.), there are also a few drawbacks. You might notice that the car sometimes clips into the surface after a harsh landing and the camera can be quite buggy with TMNF replays. So I tried to avoid it as much as i could. Also, when I started this project i didn't have Maniaplanet. Q4: How can i play these maps? A4: you can find all those maps on https://tmnforever.tm-exchange.com/ In order to play them, you need to download either TMNF or TMUF (Trackmania United Forever). They DO NOT work in Maniaplanet(TM² Stadium) or Trackmania 2020. For the oversized maps you'll need to download TMUnlimiter/TMInfinity: https://tmnforever.tm-exchange.com/ma... Q5: Why didn't you include Map XYZ? A5: I made an excel sheet for this project a while ago and whenever a new PF came out, i added it to the list and eventually rendered it and added it to the video. I'm aware I missed a few tracks, even one of my own. The problem was that I've already layed out the tracks in my editing program, so i would have to rework all of that, aaand I'm lazy... I've probably missed a few more than I think... So yeah, sorry about that :S Q6: Did you really work on this video for 5 years? A6: Sort of, I spend the first year working on an extra long intro(3 Minutes), sort of similiar to one I made for my Fullspeed compilation:    • Fullspeed. - TM Movie | Thanks for 40...   , but I wasn't happy with it. Eventually I lost that project file for some reason and settled for a smaller one. I think the old one would've been too long anyways. Over the years I worked on the project from time to time, so it was never really a "Full-Time-Project" so to speak. Until 2 Months ago when I decided it's now or never, time to finally finish it. Q7: What do the 100³, 128³ or 256³ Mean? A7: It's the map size. The usual size is 32³ (X*Y*Z). Thanks to a mod called TMUnlimiter its size can be increased/decreased. Older versions supported up to 256³, newer ones up to 2048. However, TM becomes more unstable with very large dimensions for obvious reasons. Q8: But i saw the car steer at [TIMESTAMP]! A8: Trackmanias Physics are weird, a harsh landing can cause the car to move to the left or right, edges can cause the same thing in some instances. I've been playing this game for about a decade myself and have played every single one of those maps shown here. Trust me, you're just pressing forward. Q9: What are awards? A9: On the track-swapping website TMX, players are able to upload maps, and other players can give these maps an award if they really like a map. No, this is not like a reddit award; it doesn't cost you anything. If you have any additional questions, feel free to write a comment or message me.
