One of my favorite cameras I own is my original Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera. Today, I want to post this loveletter to the OG Pocket Cam. Wait...stop sneering just because I'm a "corporate" filmmaker :) Yes, it chews through batteries and, yes, it ONLY shoots 1080p...and yes, the Pocket Cam doesn't have XLR inputs, but the quality of the footage and the lessons I've learned in using this camera really helped me step up to the "film" stage of my career. I learned how to work with true log footage, and achieve cinematic looks with this camera that really opened my mind to what I could accomplish through a color grade. Your opinions of my work may vary. 😜 What's more, you can pick up a used Pocket Camera for $400-$500 if you know where to look. Check out the video as I talk more about that.
