Mrs. Sargam Koushal is the current bearer of the Mrs. World 2022-23 title. It had been a long journey for her starting out as a school teacher to finally bring the Mrs. World crown home after a persisting gap of 21 years. She, very gracefully and vividly held up the theme of TEDxGIM 2023, “The Dawn of Disruption.” Disruptive changes have the power to alter everything that we see around us. We often associate disruption with something negative thereby completely ignoring the concept that positive disruptions can change our thoughts and ideas in unimaginable ways. Mrs. Sargam took the audience through her journey since the time she decided to do something on her own to finally emerge victorious in a way that the entire nation is proud of her today. Her journey had been filled with retaliations and humiliations but those in no way did deter her from her path. She proudly mentions her loving parents and supportive husband who was there with her throughout. She is the perfect example to all those married women who give up on their dreams upon being burdened with marital responsibilities. Sargam taught English and English Literature to middle school and high school students at Stephen’s International School in Jammu and Oak Valley International School in Visakhapatnam, for four years until she decided to pursue her lifelong dream of becoming a model and advocate for body positivity and mental health awareness to young ladies. She was crowned Mrs. World 2022 at the annual Mrs. World pageant held on Saturday, December 17, 2022, at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. Competing among 56 other married women, vying for the coveted title of Mrs. World, Sargam Koushal claimed the title and brought back the crown to mother India after 21 years.
