"Olde Tuun PinballMIX2" for Flute and Piano (premiere)

This is a performance by Sergio Pallatelli (flute) and William Braun (piano) performing a new version of my piece "Olde Turn PinballMIX2" written specifically for Sergio and the flute. It was premiered in March 2024. I had written the original version "PinballMIX1" a long time ago and premiered it with Alphonse Izzo (electric guitar) in New Haven- the first part was the same, but when the second instrument came in, it was improvised based on the notes written. Sergio asked me to do a written-out version (which really is a different piece), so I did that for him on the most recent version "PinballMIX2". It is what I call an "N-Crypt" and uses the music of Bach's 10th Invention in G major, only its upside down and backwards, and re-keyed to b minor. I used Bach's notes mainly as structural building blocks and formed a somewhat romantic minimalist texture. The piano plays solo for almost 5 minutes, then the second instrument enters. The score sill soon be available for Flute and piano, as well as the original, and transpositions for most instruments on Lulu.com I will update with a link once it's ready.
