How to Make a Hooded Cloak without a Pattern

Learn how to make a hooded cloak without a pattern, just using two of your own body measurements! This DIY hooded cloak is perfect for dressing up as a wizard, witch, superhero or other character for Halloween, a costume party or a cosplay event! Sew a red hooded cape to be Little Red Riding Hood, or so many other possibilities. You can make the circle cloak extra long or extra short (a capelet), and it will always be swingy and dramatic! Here’s what you need to make this hooded cloak: • Black fabric (I used satin lining fabric: https://amzn.to/3BlPXfd *). The exact amount depends on the length of your cape. I used 4 meters of 1 m wide fabric. Consider that you’ll need to cut out a circle with a radius around 2 meters. If your fabric, like mine, is narrower than that, you’ll have to cut out two semicircles and sew them together, like I show in the video. • Flexible tape measure: https://amzn.to/2YxdwU9 * • Tailor’s chalk (traditional white or white chalk roller: https://amzn.to/3FqDZ6r *) • Fabric scissors: https://amzn.to/3oFCKu2 * • Pins: https://amzn.to/3oVPey7 * • Black polyester thread: https://amzn.to/3j0IJpZ * • Size 80 universal machine sewing needle: https://amzn.to/307Qzr5 * • 1 snap (I used a 25 mm [1”] hand sewn snap: https://amzn.to/3FsVXW0 *) • 1 decorative button (optional, to cover stitches for snap) • Optional: my circle skirt template (https://www.cucicucicoo.com/2016/03/h...) . This helps mainly to make sure that your fabric is folded correctly at a 90° angle and to help you gauge the 1 cm seam allowance at the selvages if you need to join two semicircles, like I show.
