La Marmotte Gran Fondo - Europe’s Most Prestigious Sportive

Today is the day I’ve been planning for since early 2020, postponed 3 times! La Marmotte Granfondo Alpes - it’s considered to be Europe’s most prestigious sportive, and is certainly one of the most challenging for the amateur - with 2000 cyclists (7000 in a non pandemic year) covering 176km and climbing 5000m over 4 Hors Category Climbs in the French Alps! We take in spectacular scenery whilst taking on Col du Glandon West, Col du Telegraph and then straight into Col du Galibier from Valloire. With 164km and 3950m ascending on the clock, we then round off proceedings with the infamous Alpe d’Huez - the steepest climb of the day. This is a massive challenge for any amateur cyclist - but a truly magnificent one, providing beautiful, imposing vistas, shared experience and plenty of fun along the way.
