Heut hab ich mal was musikalisch ganz verrücktes getan. Den wohl bekanntesten Wiener Walzer „An der schönen blauen Donau“ hab ich als Swing im Hammond Sound arrangiert. Die Idee dazu hatte ich schon sehr lange und stammt eigentlich von meinem alten Freund Klaus Wunderlich. Der hatte das Hauptthema mal ,als wir uns getroffen hatten ,aus dem Hut mal so locker angespielt und meinte das solch eine jazzige Version gar nicht schlecht klingt. Das ist aber mit Sicherheit schon über 40 Jahre her. Der Sound der H 100 stammt aus dem Real Organ Modul, aber nicht wie üblich mit Scannervibrato. Sondern ich hab das mit der Leslie Simulation aus dem Modul zusammen mit dem D-Mix Rotor gespielt, unterlegt nur mit leisen Brush Drums. Die Schwierigkeit bestand einerseits darin die 8 Seiten des Stücks in einem Rutsch möglichst fehlerfrei durch zu spielen, andererseits musste ich dabei aber auch gleichzeitig , da es ja Walzernoten sind, jeden einzelnen Takt innerlich in einen Swing Rhythmus verwandeln. Ich weiß zwar das eine solche „Verunstaltung“ einer bekannten klassischen Komposition nicht jedermanns Sache ist, aber Musik ist Gottseidank absolut vielseitig und vor allem Geschmacksache. Ich habe jedenfalls bei der Arbeit damit an der Sempra riesengroßen Spaß gehabt, denn das ist Orgel spielen so wie ich es liebe. Um den wunderbaren Klang der Böhm Sempra richtig zu genießen sollte das Video nicht über Handy oder Tablet Lautsprecher sondern über eine vernünftige Anlage oder gute Kopf/Ohrhörer angehört werden. Today I did something musically quite crazy. I arranged the probably best-known Viennese waltz "An der schönen blauen Donau" as a swing in Hammond sound. I've had the idea for this for a long time and it actually comes from my old friend Klaus Wunderlich. He had once played the main theme out of a hat when we met and said that such a jazzy version wouldn't sound bad at all. But that was certainly over 40 years ago. The sound of the H 100 comes from the Real Organ module, but not with the usual scanner vibrato. Instead, I played it with the Leslie simulation from the module together with the D-Mix Rotor, underlaid only with soft brush drums. The difficulty was on the one hand to play the 8 pages of the piece in one go with as few mistakes as possible, but on the other hand I also had to transform every single bar into a swing rhythm at the same time, as these are waltz notes. I know that such a "defacement" of a well-known classical composition is not everyone's cup of tea, but thank God music is absolutely versatile and above all a matter of taste. I certainly had a lot of fun working with it on the Sempra, because that's organ playing the way I love it. To really enjoy the wonderful sound of the Böhm Sempra, the video should not be listened to via mobile phone or tablet speakers but via a decent system or good headphones/earphones.
