During its first media conference, the first number of cast members of were introduced: Multi-Gawad Urian winner Ms. Gina Alajar, together with three-time Best Actor and multi-awarded producer and two-time Gawad Urian Best Actor nominee Alfred Vargas (who also serves as a producer for this project). Alternative Vision Cinema and Noble Wolf’s drama-thriller Pieta takes pride in announcing A-list actors who will play pivotal roles in the ensemble: The first Southeast Asian to win Best Actress in the Cannes Film Festival Ms. Jaclyn Jose; URIAN & FAMAS Best Actor winner Bembol Roco; Fantasporto International Film Festival Best Actress Ina Raymundo, URIAN and internationally-acclaimed film & theater actress Angeli Bayani; and Cinemalaya Best Actor Tommy Alejandrino. In this cautionary tale of a mother and son searching for truth, Nora Aunor will be playing Rebecca, who is battling her waning eyesight and her Alzheimer when she meets her son who just got our of prison after 25 years. Alfred Vargas will play Isaac, a man trying to reconcile his past. Meanwhile, Ms. Gina Alajar is Aunor’s confidant, Beth, who devotedly takes care of Vargas’ mother while he was incarcerated. The film is written by Carlos Palanca winner Jerry Gracio, and to be directed by internationally-acclaimed and Urian Best Director Adolfo B. Alix, Jr.
