This is my transcription of the infamous "Doll Song" aria from Offenbach's "The Tales of Hoffmann". The aria, which was written for a coloratura soprano, is famous for its immense difficulty and the Ab6 note that some singers will sing during the second verse of the song. Overall, instead of approaching this transcription in a strict, note-by-note manner, I have reimagined what the aria would be like if it was written for the piano instead. Hence, you can see numerous original cadenzas and runs in my transcription that are in the spirit of the song. Some of the highlights of this transcription would be the numerous rubatos that match actual performances by human voices, as well as the playful sound effects of the original that I have to imitate using the piano (For example, there is a place during each verse when the doll, Olympia, runs out of power and stops singing properly).
