As a result, they jump to conclusions and display an inflexibility in their thinking. They dislike changing their mind, even in the face of changing data. This makes them less open to new ideas. In general, it is very easy for people to live inside echo chambers and to have no knowledge of outside opinions or different ways of thinking. This, in turn, leads to “groupthink,” in which people are afraid to express opinions contrary to what other group members believe. To be a critical thinker, one must not be too vested in one side or another.
