Saxophonist Kenny Garrett experienced a major breakthrough right after he played the BIMHUIS the first time, in 1986 with Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers. With his powerful playing on alto and soprano he made waves in Miles Davis’ band and he achieved great success as a solo artist. On his most recent album Do Your Dance all kinds of dance music are incorporated, from funk and hip-hop to grooves and beats from Africa and Brazil. In live performances, Kenny Garrett’s regular quintet is known to make people dance as well.
