Earlier this year, bassist Hadrien Feraud messaged me saying he was about to borrow an instrument from fellow bass player and Jaco Pastorius fan Robert Trujillo to record and film new material. It was not just any instrument, but the legendary Bass of Doom. The bass was used extensively by Jaco, both live and in the studio, until it was stolen in 1986. Decades later, the Bass of Doom was found in the hands of a collector in New York City, and after a lengthy legal battle, it was purchased by Trujillo. A couple months after Hadrien first told me the news, I got to hear it in action. My jaw fell to the floor as I listened to the newly recorded demos. I'm sure Jaco was there in spirit through the whole process. And now, a little over 6 months later, the public finally gets their first glimpse at this awesome body of work. This one's called "You".
