God Allowed the Detour For a Reason

When God first frees the Israelites from slavery in Egypt, He doesn't lead them to the Promised Land by the most direct route - instead, He leads them by the long way around. There was a path that led directly to their destination, but this isn't the path God took them on. They must have wondered, "Why is God taking us the long way? Why is He guiding us away from the end goal, when there's another route that makes sense?" It must have felt counterintuitive. Yet, God had a very specific purpose in allowing this seeming detour, and it was for the Israelites' GOOD. If you've ever asked these same questions in your own life: Why is it taking so long?
